The former Navy Chagas died last Sunday in João Pessoa. But not before leaving a controversy in the air. Shortly before the last interview he gave in life, on Friday, for the local edition of the Globe Sports TV Cabo Branco , the best left-back in the 1974 World Cup raised a "bombshell thesis" about the troubled relationship between two French : the general secretary of FIFA, Jerome Valcke; and current UEFA president Michel Platini . And how this relationship was affecting the achievement of the World Cup in Brazil.

Marino said in a conversation with journalists from TV Cabo Branco, before going on air that Platini is opposition candidate for the presidency of Fifa and enthusiast Cup in Brazil, so that Valcke was doing harsh and systematic criticism of the event in the country as a way of wearing political opponent.

After this chat, he entered the studios of TV Cabo Branco for the interview and then went away. On Saturday, attending an event on the World Cup, a stand located in one of the malls in the capital of Paraiba, when he began to vomit blood magazines. He was interned first in the emergency care unit Oceania and then was transferred to the Hospital Emergency and Trauma of Paraíba. Died the next day, on Sunday, caused by gastrointestinal bleeding that could not be adequately resolved. 

After his death, the body was taken to Marinho Chagas Natal, where he was born and lived, and veiled in Frasqueirão Stadium, ABC, where he began his career. The funeral of former player happened on Monday.
