According to residents, the explosion occurred about 15 minutes after the start of Brazil vs Mexico match at Castellan stadium in Fortaleza. Earlier this month, 40 people were killed in an attack carried out during a football match in Mubi. In May, a similar attack in the city of Jos killed three Nigerians who accompanied the final of the Champions League between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.Authorship of the attack on Tuesday has not yet been claimed by Boko Haram. Because of similar episodes, two Nigerian states had already banned the meeting points with televisions. The militants of the rebel group, held responsible for the deaths of thousands of Nigerians in the last five years, believe football is a "Western distraction" that separates Muslims from their religion.
